Field crops

Arizona cotton conditions are fair to excellent. Harvesting is 60 percent complete, behind last year at 74 percent, and behind the five-year average of 70 percent.

Most Arizona-grown alfalfa is in fair-to-good condition. Harvesting is active on more than 60 percent of the acreage.

Vegetable, fruit, and specialty crops

Central Arizona growers shipped cantaloupes, Chinese cabbage, cilantro, endive, escarole, honeydews, kale greens, lemons, parsley, and spinach.

Western Arizona growers shipped bok choy, broccoli, cantaloupes, cauliflower, cilantro, honeydews, lemons, Boston, green leaf, iceberg, red leaf, and romaine lettuce, miscellaneous melons, parsley, and spinach.

Weather summary

Temperatures were mostly above average in Arizona, ranging from 2 degrees below normal at Buckeye to 8 degrees above normal at Prescott.

The highest temperature of the week was 86 degrees at Coolidge and Paloma. The lowest reading at 14 degrees occurred at Grand Canyon.

Precipitation was recorded in 9 of the 22 stations this week. Kingman and Paloma received the least at .01 inches of precipitation. Flagstaff received the most at .5 inches.
