Futures hold as mood brightens

Fear factor eases in financial markets, traders out buying again. (audio)

Markets around the world are trying to end a turbulent week on a more upbeat note. Buying emerged on European stock markets overnight, helping U.S. stock index futures to gains as investors began shedding safe haven assets in search of more riskier plays. That included crude oil and other commodities, helping grain futures hold mostly steady to a little higher ahead of the Presidents Day weekend.
