Riceland Foods, Inc. Senior Vice President Terry Harris will draw on his 43 years of experience in the global rice industry to discuss the challenges the U.S. rice industry faces selling rice in a world increasingly focused on food security, protectionism, and nationalism in an April 11 webinar, U.S. Rice Exports Free Trade - Fair Trade. The webinar begins at 10 A.M. CST.
Harris will delve into factors constraining the U.S. rice global export market and offer a real-world and real-time view of marketing U.S. rice. That market exists in a global economy where efficiencies are lacking. Market challenges include an array of government support and protectionist programs by the world’s major rice export countries as well as fiscal, monetary and trade policy disputes.
Harris will provide an in-depth discussion on NAFTA 2.0, Chinese trade and policy disputes, European Union economic and trade challenges, Brexit, and other issues affecting U.S. rice trade.
Harris is Senior Vice President in Charge of Operations for Riceland Foods Inc., a farmer owned cooperative headquartered in Stuttgart, Arkansas, which serves farmer members in Arkansas, Missouri, and Northern Louisiana. He serves on the boards of the USA Rice Millers Association, USA Rice Federation, USA Rice Foundation, and USA Rice Council.
