The Outlook 2017 Agribusiness Conference, sponsored by the California Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, is slated for March 30 at Fresno, Calif.
The conference theme is ‘California Agriculture: State of the Industry.’ The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel Convention Center.
Richard Pombo, former U.S. Congressman for California’s 11th congressional district from 1993 through 2007, will provide an update on the state of affairs in Washington, DC after the recent election, and its impact on the West and rural America.
David Orth of David Orth Consulting will discuss water opportunities and challenges for California agriculture.
Speakers will provide crop industry updates on walnuts, almonds, dairy, pecans, and pistachios with presentations by Craig Duerr of Campos Brothers Farms; Anja Radabaugh of Western United Dairymen; and Jim Zion of Meridian Nut Company.
Janie Gatzman of Gatzman Appraisal will discuss the 2017 Trends in Agricultural Land & Lease Values publication which will examine the drivers behind land value changes and what lies ahead for agriculture.
All conference attendees will receive a copy of the Trends book. Additional copies wcan be purchased following the conference in print and electronic formats.
Conference Chair Dan Whisenhunt of Agcom, LLC says, “There is no question that Outlook 2017 offers the best value of any ag conference in the Western United States.”
The conference also will include presentations to the recipients of ASFMRA’s Distinguished California Agriculturalist and Agricultural Stewardship Awards.
The event is open to the public. Preregister by March 10. Conference fees are $227 for ASFMRA members and $277 for non-members.
