Max Armstrong takes a look at the crop situation and reminds us of what is important to the food supply.
He says he has traveled to many farms across the country and had the opportunity to talk with many producers.
Many farmers would be talking about the dry conditions and that their soybeans are not where they would want them to be at this point in the summer.
However, some farmers would be talking about how pollination is right around the corner for the corn crop.
But with pollination comes the need for bees. They are very important to the crop and sometimes they don't get the recognition they need.
Without bees, there would be no crop. Ron Fisher, a bee keeper in Illinois and at one time president of the bee keeper association, would remind us of the importance of bees and to take care of them.
One third of the food we eat is dependent on the bees. The problem is that the bee population is decreasing and we are dependent on them to eat.
So take care of our bees!
