Max Armstrong takes another look at the ramifications of Proposition 12 and sales of pork in the state of California.

The state of California accounts for 10 percent of the market share of the United States and the new standards outlined in Proposition 12 will hurt pork producers financially. For example, the new standards will require 24 square feet of living space for breeding hogs. There are also standards for chickens as well in Proposition 12.

A group of Republican state governors sent a letter saying the Agriculture Trade Suppression Act needs to be re-introduced in the house of representatives. The act would help stop states from making laws on agriculture goods grown or produced in other states.

The letter was sent to house leadership. The letter represents the 12 states that produce over half of the country's pork. The letter was signed by governors in Iowa, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas, Virginia, Montana, Nevada, Indiana and Arkansas.
