Soybeans gain on crop concerns

Corn competition comes clear overnight. (Video)

Soybeans are trying to lead grain futures higher overnight, as a drier weather pattern in the eastern Midwest raise concerns about how the crop will finish after an at times challenging growing season. Chinese trade data is also in the mix, with that country importing more corn and soybeans from the U.S. than normal last month. Still, the U.S. faces completion from Brazil for those deals, eating into purchases by regular customers in Asia.
