The markets are trying to set a friendly tone ahead of next USDA crop production report due out Sept. 12. Farm Futures yields are lower than USDA projected, coming in at 49.1 bushels per acre for soybeans and 168 bushels per acre for corn.
The weather forecast is calling for dry and cooler temperatures, particularly in the western Corn Belt.
There's hope for improving demand, particularly from China and USDA tends to underestimate demand from China.
