First South Farm Credit has joined the ranks as a Founding Member of the state’s new agricultural branding program Sweet Grown Alabama.
“The emphasis by Sweet Grown Alabama on the use and consumption of home-grown agricultural products is very beneficial to both the producers of agricultural products and to consumers throughout Alabama” said Mike Pigg, President of First South Farm Credit’s Alabama Division. “One of the primary goals of First South is to support initiatives that will benefit our 5,500 members in Alabama.”
Sweet Grown Alabama depends on industry partnerships to spotlight Alabama grown products. Funds will be utilized to encourage purchasing of locally-grown products through traditional and digital marketing. Member farmers, restaurants and stores will be listed in an online searchable database coming spring 2020.
“We appreciate First South Farm Credit for being a faithful partner of Alabama farmers,” said Jimmy Parnell, Sweet Grown Alabama board member and Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance Company President. “As a Founding Member, First South recognizes the value that Sweet Grown Alabama brings not only to their patrons but to our state as a whole.”
