Corn and soybeans have modest gains near midday as they recover a portion of what they lost in yesterday’s lower markets.

Weather forecasts and crop fundaments have not changed much since yesterday. Rain showers should be moving through the Midwest today and tomorrow before drier weather arrives for the weekend. Next week’s forecast is cool and wet for the Midwest. Spring wheat harvest is under way in the northern Plains and that area should be cool and dry next week.

Attention is turning to USDA’s monthly crop report on August 10, which will provide an estimate for this year’s spring wheat crop.
