Visitors to the fundraiser look over silent auction items.</p>
Over 1,300 people, many of them farmers or in farm-related fields attended the St. Jude S'travaganza last Feb. 5. The event raised over $313,000 for St. Jude this year.
The event is held in honor of Donna Cathcart, who died of a brain tumor in 1993. Her parents, Fred and Susan Cathcart, organize the annual fundraiser, which has raised over $2.3 million since 1994.
Agriculture plays a big role in the event by supplying volunteers and items for a silent auction.
Donna had a very rare form of brain cancer called pontine glioma. Survivial beyond 12 months to 14 months is uncommon. Little progress has been made in finding a cure.
