The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) recently launched a new membership specifically designed for high school graduates through age 22. The Ohio Young Cattlemen’s (OYC) membership is designed to encourage young cattlemen to join OCA at an introductory rate and then graduate into the OCA producer or associate membership.

“Young cattlemen’s members will play an integral role in bridging the gap between OCA youth program participants and young adults just getting their feet on the ground with their own goals and aspirations in the beef industry,” says Joe Foster, OCA President and Gallia County cattleman.

Young cattlemen that join will receive benefits to help them get introduced to the association through engagement in industry advocacy and the public policy process. They will receive two issues of the Ohio Cattleman magazine in the mail and the other issues distributed throughout the year by email. The newly formed group will be provided with enhanced networking and career development opportunities through OCA’s Allied Industry Council (AIC), a group of agribusiness professionals with a focus in the beef cattle industry. OCA will host social events for group interaction and job recruitment.

The cost of the OYC membership is $20 annually. Young cattlemen can join online at ohiocattle.org or by mailing a check to OCA with a completed membership form that can be found online. Please note that BEST, Best of the Buckeye participants and Ohio Beef Expo consignors and exhibitors must be OCA producer members.
