Syngenta announced Feb. 22 that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency had registered its new Minecto Pro insecticide for foliar use in specialty and vegetable crops to control lepidopteran pests, plus sucking-rasping-chewing pests including psyllids, thrips, whiteflies, mites, and Colorado potato beetles.

The company calls the new insecticide a broad spectrum solution with long-lasting residual control in specialty and vegetable crops.

Minecto Pro combines two modes of action (MOA): cyantraniliprole, a second generation diamide that provides a broader spectrum of control; and abamectin, the global standard for mite control; both MOAs into one convenient premix formulation.

Syngenta says the product will broaden the activity spectrum compared to stand-alone products.

Minecto Pro will be commercially available for the 2017 growing season if and when state registrations are approved.
