BROAD-SPECTRUM CONTROL

May 1, 2007

FMC SAYS its new insecticide Hero EC handles many insects in corn and other vegetable crops. The new pyrethroid product offers dual action with a quick knockdown of the insects and then a long, broad-spectrum control. Hero is approved for control of mites, aphids, bean leaf beetles, corn rootworm adults, corn earworms, corn borers, Western bean cutworms and other pests.

A new preemergent soybean herbicide also is available from FMC. Authority First DF herbicide combines two modes of action — one from FMC's sulfentrazone and the other from Dow AgroSciences' cloransulam-methyl. Authority First is available in a dry flowable formulation and is used for preemergence control of a wide spectrum of weeds, including glyphosate-resistant broadleaf weeds.
