The Fond du Lac County Extension office will host a Pest Management Update Meeting on Monday, Nov. 14 at University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, University Center in Room 114.
The program will provide information of weed management, insect management and disease management. Speakers include University of Wisconsin Extension Specialists Vince Davis, Paul Esker, Eileen Cullen and Mark Renz.
Topics to be discussed include: herbicide updates, glyphosate resistance in Wisconsin, control strategies for giant ragweed, alfalfa weed management, economics of pasture weed control, invasive species rule update, switchgrass establishment treatments, black cutworm and armyworm in corn, slug management in corn and soybeans, spider mites in soybeans, Japanese beetles in corn and soybeans and Bt corn insect traits and refuge requirements update.
Other topics include: biology and management of Goss's wilt, considerations of using fungicides and insecticides for alfalfa, economics of soybean seed treatments and linking genetics and disease resistance for small grains.
The cost is $35 per person and includes lunch and learning materials. Additional packets of materials will be available for $20 per person. Checks can be made out to Fond du Lac County Extension and mailed to:
