The basic idea behind corn harvest technology really hasn’t changed much in the last seven decades, but it sure has gotten bigger. Take a look at the newest, at the time, corn harvesting machinery to hit south Georgia in 1945.

Strangely enough, the machines don’t look that strange at all. The strangest thing might be seeing how nice the folks at the time "cleaned up" to go see them in action.

The photos are of a demonstration field day at Whitney Estates in Thomas County, Ga., November 1945 and a corn picker working the plots at the Experiment Station in Tifton, Ga., October 1945.
