David Jackson of Family Tree Farms in Reedley, Calif. is the 2015-2016 board chair of the California Fresh Fruit Association (CFFA).

Jackson was re-elected to the post in mid-March during the CFFA’s first annual meeting held in Del Mar, Calif.

The event was the organizations first under its new CFFA moniker – yet the organization’s 79th annual under its new and previous name – the California Grape and Tree Fruit League.

The organizational name change took effect last year.

The CFFA board includes 47 members from operations located from the Coachella Valley to the south and then north up to Lake County.

Elected CFFA’s vice chair was Harold McClarty of HMC Farms in Kingsburg. Chosen second vice-chair was Randy Giumarra of Giumarra Vineyards in Bakersfield.

Louis Pandol of Pandol Bros., Inc. is the secretary-treasurer.

The board welcomed new director Bill Chandler of Chandler Farms in Selma.

Workshop speakers included:

  • Dave Corsi of Wegmans who discussed fresh fruit marketing;

  • David McInerney of FreshDirect on relationships between growers and shippers; and

  • Cathy Enright of the Biotechnology Industry Organization who discussed how genetically-engineered food products in general could impact the (non-GE) fresh fruit industry.
