A field day sponsored by Michigan State University Extension, Clare Conservation District, Monsanto, and MAEAP is set for Oct. 19 at the Jeff Stamper Farm, 10950 Bailey Drive, Harrison. It is a MAEAP Phase One meeting.
The program starts at 5:30 p.m., and will go until 7:30 p.m. There will be a field tour of a cover crop/forage plot planted with Austrian peas, oilseed radish, crimson clover, rape, triticale, rye, and winter barley. Attendees will also hear about soil health, grazing of cover crop forages and water quality.
Forage and cover crop field day offered near Harrison
The Stamper farm is a red angus cow-calf farm and is utilizing management intensive grazing. Speakers include, MSU Extension Educators, Paul Gross, Jerry Lindquist and Kable Thurlow, Jeff and Caleb Stamper and Karen Ickes of the MAEAP Program.
