That time of year – fun for a farm show junky

In this blog you'll see a sunrise picture, it's a tradition for me to get the first sunrise of the Farm Progress Show and share it. This year, you can see that we have a few clouds, but the chance of some opening-day wet weather won't dampen the spirits of those of us who love coming to the show.

The ol' media dance card is pretty full this week, with plenty of new tech and equipment to see – we already shared the latest from John Deere this week. And earlier this month you got a look at the new Agco launch that happens this week.

We're also excited to see some new equipment at work in the demo fields – though you'll want to check farmprogressshow.com or @fpshow on Twitter to keep up with that schedule, given opening day potential for rain (weather dries considerably for Wednesday and Thursday).

The key is that this week we get to see plenty of new tech that we'll be sharing over the next couple of weeks – we can't write it all over night! Yet we're excited. I expect I'll put on 15,000 steps each day making it to my many meetings and spending quality time with my Surface Pro 3 writing things up for you to check out.

It's show season! The start of several trips for me to a range of fall events from which I'll share what I can learn. If you're coming to Farm Progress Show or Husker Harvest Days enjoy the events, I plan to. If you see me slogging around with my Aussie cowboy hat and black backpack, say 'hi' but know I'm probably headed somewhere so I won't stop to chat for long.

I offered some tips last week for a success visit to the Farm Progress Show – consider them this week if you're heading this way. And enjoy the event!

And I'll try to share some short thoughts from what I see each day at the show – so tune in tomorrow for my first post-first-day blog.
