TWIN-LINE PLANTER

Now available from Kinze Manufacturing is the 3660 TS Two-Section Twin-Line planter. Available in 12- and 16-row sizes, the planter comes with two-section manual half-width disconnect of right and left sections from the tractor cab.

Standard features include the Kinze Cobalt monitoring system with color touch-screen display and Kinze Air Seed Delivery system with two centrally mounted 55-bu. hoppers.

The three-section frame allows for 13° up-and-down movement, and a hydraulic weight transfer mechanism keeps the toolbar even and prevents the wings from rising out of the ground. The frame can transport as narrow as 11 ft. 2 in.

Available with either mechanical or vacuum seed metering systems, the planter can be equipped with Interplant push-row units or a liquid fertilizer package with a total capacity of 550 gal. Also available is an optional breakaway row marker package.

CROP SENSOR

New from Ag Leader is the OptRx crop sensor. Used for mapping and data collection, it can also be used for real-time variable-rate application of chemicals, specifically nitrogen (N).

OptRx features a patented light-sensing technology that is not dependent on ambient light, so the system can be used day or night. It can be mounted on many types of vehicles to collect information while driving through the field.

By shining a light on a growing plant then reading the light reflected back at the sensor, the crop sensor system can create a prescription that varies the N rate on the go.

OptRx will be available for the 2010 growing season for mapping sensor readings. Variable-rate N application for corn is also included for the 2010 growing season.

LARGE-CAPACITY COMBINE

New Holland introduces the new CR9090 combine, featuring IntelliCruise, IntelliSteer, OptiClean and OptiSpread systems.

Offering up to 20% increased capacity (compared to the CR9080 model), the grain tank holds 355 bu. The fuel tank is also larger, holding 306 gal. The 544-hp engine uses turbo compound technology for greater efficiency and offers a 5% fuel savings compared to similar-horsepower engines. The engine is also compliant with 100% biodiesel usage.

The CR9090 uses a twin rotor system to thresh and separate the crop and has adjustable rotor vane covers with three settings for differing crops and conditions. The processing velocity is matched to the ideal threshing and separation action for high-quality grain samples. With a new self-leveling cleaning shoe, the system offers increased sieve throwing strokes and steeper throwing angles, with a cleaning area of 10,075 sq. in.

An automatic crop feeding system monitors crop load on the header to ensure smooth driving speed. Forward speed is automatically adjusted, resulting in consistent performance.

The cab offers 62.3 sq. ft. of glass area. In the cab is an IntelliView Plus II color monitor with wide, easy-to-view screen and touch-screen capability. The monitor also allows DGPS-based IntelliSteer automatic guidance system.
