Molitor Brothers host site for Hastings area irrigation tour

VIEW THE LATEST: The July 26 irrigation tour in the Hastings area will showcase the latest in irrigation technology and management, according to organizers with the Irrigators Association of Minnesota.Paula Mohr

The Irrigators Association of Minnesota and the Southeast Minnesota Irrigators are hosting a tour of irrigated farming in the Hastings area July 26.

The tour starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Molitor Brothers farm shop located south of Hastings approximately 10 miles along State Highway 61. The address is 13187 240th St. E., Cannon Falls, Mn.

Area irrigators, legislators and other elected officials, and officials from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and county soil and water conservation districts are invited to attend.

IAM organizers say the tour will showcase high value crops that are raised under irrigation along with the latest irrigation technology, along with conservation measure used to protect water and area resources. The tour will also stop at a DNR observation well and a soil and weather monitoring station.

After the bus tour, lunch will be served and more discussion will follow. An optional tour of the Little Log House and Antique Power Show will be offered in the afternoon.
