On the heels of the launch of the new 8S tractor line, Massey Ferguson is doubling down with smaller models to round out the flagship tractor series. The company has launched the 6S and 7S Series machines. In addition, the company rolled out the new WR Series windrowers.
“Massey Ferguson has built on its success with tractors,” says Adam Sills, marketing product specialist at Agco. “We heard from the farmer and built on that with smaller machines, too.”
The smaller machines include the new 6S and 7S tractors. This rounds out the S Series from the 5S through the 8S, bringing horsepower and chassis choices ranging from 105 to 265 engine hp.
The two newest series feature Massey Ferguson heritage graphics, which are attractive to the farmer, Sills says. And there is a new cab shared for the 5, 6 and 7S models. “The new cabs feature an enhanced operator experience,” he says. “There’s more room; the seat features heat and cooling; and it swivels to provide less strain on the operator.”
More on 6S
Four models are in the 6S lineup, with engine horsepower denoting model designation. The choices include a 145-hp, 155-hp, 165-hp and 180-hp machine. All are powered by a four-cylinder, 4.9-liter Agco Power engine.
NEW 6S SERIES: The new 6S Series includes four models. An integrated loader right from the factory features a profiled design for better visibility and a range of productivity options.
The Dyna-6 transmission has 24 forward and reverse speeds of up to 31 mph. The Dyna-VT transmission lets the user set the exact speed without impacting engine rpm for best output in a range of situations. The Dyna-VT transmission is available with a 50-gallon-per-minute load-sensing hydraulic system.
Details for 7S
Five models are in the 7S lineup, ranging from 155 to 210 engine hp. However, the 7S uses Engine Power Management that can goose end power if needed. For example, the 7S.190 has a maximum engine horsepower of 220 with EPM.
Power for the 7S line comes from a six-cylinder, 6.6-liter Agco Power engine. The Dyna-6 transmission offers 24 forward and reverse speeds up to 25 or 31 mph for optimum fuel efficiency. The Dyna-VT transmission is the company’s continuously variable choice, and with this option, users get the 50-gallon-per-minute load-sensing hydraulic system.
There are horsepower overlaps across the S Series line, allowing users to pick the right chassis for the work needed. For example, the 6S has a smaller chassis and tighter turning radius for the horsepower, which overlaps with the 7S. “The 6S is smaller and more maneuverable,” Sills says. “It depends on what work you want to get done.”
These two new models will be available later this year in time for the 2023 season.
Enhancing a windrower line
Increasing productivity when cutting forages is key in today’s market. Massey Ferguson is stepping up with the new WR Series windrowers for the 2023 model season. “We’ve redesigned the exterior for better aesthetics,” says Greg Hunsley, manager of demand planning and fulfillment at Agco. “We’ve improved airflow to help keep the engine cooler, too.”
Hunsley says the new machine offers a 10% increase in overall efficiency compared to previous models. A key upgrade is a closed-center auxiliary hydraulic system that offers either a 10% fuel savings or 10% power increase.
The new machines also get added fuel capacity, moving to 150 gallons from 130 in past models.
NEW WINDROWER: The new WR Series windrowers from Massey Ferguson will feature three models from 197 to 265 engine hp. The WR235 with 235 engine hp is shown. The restyled body improves airflow for better engine cooling. The machine boasts a 10% increase in overall efficiency.
The three models in the line all include Agco Power engines:
WR197 at 197 engine hp, with a four-cylinder, 4.9-liter engine
WR235 at 235 engine hp, with a six-cylinder, 7.4-liter engine
WR265 at 265 engine hp, with a six-cylinder, 7.4-liter engine
The new machines feature a large tandem hydraulic header drive pump for increased hydraulic capacity and control, which lets producers run disk or draper heads.
In the cab, the user gets the Datatronic 5 terminal, which collects key operational information in one place. And producers can use MF Guide and other technologies for improve operation.
