John Deere introduced the Welderator to its line of power products for the farm, ranch and workshop. This stationary, gasoline-powered machine provides three functions in one unit — air compressor, generator and arc welder.
The Welderator features an overhead cam/overhead valve, 404cc engine with an electric start on a 30-gal. receiver tank mounted on a 3/16-in. base plate. The unit weighs 585 lbs. and is 46 in. long by 22 in. wide and 47 in. high.
When operated in generator mode, the unit provides 5,000 watts maximum output through two 120V, 20-amp receptacles. Users can select two speeds: idle down for use with the air compressor and full-throttle to power the welder and for electric power generation.
The compressor pump is a two-stage compressor with a splash-lubricated cast-iron crankcase and durable stainless steel braided discharge hose. It is capable of generating airflow at 16.3 cfm at 100 psi and 15.7 cfm at 175 psi.
In welder mode, the Welderator can produce a 50- to 170-amp arc suitable for most on-farm welding needs. The duty cycle (10-min. run time) is 150 amps at 100% power.
“These units are very popular with a wide variety of farm, ranch and commercial customers as they can do so many jobs when matched with the right accessories,” said Chris Spyrow, marketing manager for John Deere. “They come with a two-year warranty, are easy to service and are built to provide years of dependable service.”
