I could not be more excited to get the news that the Farmland movie is on Hulu and Hulu Plus! I saw a pre-screen of the film in February at Commodity Classic, and the film was released to a limited screening in theaters in April and May. If you didn't have the chance to see it then, watch it now. Like right now. Stop what you're doing, and watch this incredible film.
If you don't know anything about Farmland, it shares the story of six farmers across the U.S., including livestock operations, row crops, organic and a CSA farm. The farmers are real, the stories are very real and the passion for farming that these people have is off the charts.
The film shows the good, shows the bad and talks about the real daily struggles and successes that these farmers (and farmers across the country) endure.
So if you don't have time right now, make time later to open the laptop and pull up www.hulu.com. Search Farmland, click on the movie and watch it. (There will be a few short commercials here and there, but it's still so worth it!) Take it in, share it with your friends. If you have Hulu Plus, it's available there, too. But it's only available for the next four weeks!
After you've watched it, let me know what you think. Tell me if you loved it, hated it, have questions. Talk about it. That's the most important (after watching it, of course). Talk about real farming practices and share them with consumers.
Ryan Veldhuizen, a farmer in the film from Minnesota, wants to share how he farms, how he raises hogs. He's happy to inform the public.
"What does the public want to know? We're not hiding anything, but what do you want to know?" he asks.
