Farmers operating machinery from different manufacturers will soon be able to securely exchange and view machine data through a common interface. The data interface is DataConnect and the project was announced by Claas, John Deere and 365FarmNet

CNH Industrial has also joined DataConnect. With the addition of CNH Industrial brands Case IH, New Holland Agriculture and Steyr, the cloud-to-cloud effort now includes five major farm equipment brands and their respective telematics platforms.

Previously, viewing such information required duplicating efforts by using each manufacturer’s separate and corresponding platforms or web portals to view such machine information.

The structure of the DataConnect direct cloud-to-cloud solution enables a seamless and automated dataflow without any effort for the customer. The real-time data exchange allows a live overview about the whole machine fleet. Furthermore, DataConnect works without any additional hardware and software components and ensures secure data handling. With this new approach, customers can view their current machine fleet in one portal. The solution will apply to hundreds of thousands of already connected machines.

The addition of CNH Industrial means that users of AFS Connect, the telematics platform of Case IH, MyPLM Connect for New Holland, and S-Tech for Steyr, will have the option for the real-time, cloud-to-cloud exchange of data with both John Deere Operations Center and Claas Telematics or 365FarmNet portals.

Claas, John Deere, 365FarmNet and CNH Industrial are members and supporters of the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation. As the participating companies develop their cloud-to-cloud solution, they plan to share their experience and learnings with AEF in an effort to support industry standards.

A first insight into the operation of DataConnect will be possible on the Case IH, Claas, 365FarmNet, John Deere and New Holland stands at Agritechnica 2019, with the official launch scheduled for summer 2020.
