During its user conference this week in Orlando, FarmLogs announced the release of two new products – Nitrogen Monitoring and Variable Rate Prescriptions for seeding and nitrogen. The company reports that the new features are available immediately.
In a press statement announcing the new tool, Jesse Vollmar, CEO and co-founder, FarmLogs, says: “We’ve taken a huge step forward in our mission to create a better future for farming. We’re now able to go beyond just exposing important data and insights to offering field-specific recommendations that increase profitability and reduce environmental impact.”
The company has taking more than five seasons of high-resolution multi-spectral satellite imagery and soil survey data, along with data science and analytics to capture variations in the field in what Vollmar calls an “entirely new way.” The company’s approach automatically accounts for seasonal conditions and other variables, making site-specific management accessible, and easier to use.
This screen shot from the new Nitrogen Monitoring tool offers a look at how the system will help farmers balance crop nutrient use.
With the Nitrogen Monitoring product, a user can see nitrogen availability on a daily basis and it provides an unlimited amount of flat-rate recommendations to help farmers lower their input costs.
The Variable Rate Prescription tool enables users to remotely identify and manage the unique performance characteristics of each field. The software provides automatic management zones that FarmLogs says take the guesswork out of knowing where, when and how much nitrogen and seed to apply per zone. And there’s no need to collect additional data.
Running the numbers
FarmLogs also announced new pricing. The company notes that FarmLogs Standard will remain free forever. FarmLogs Advantage subscriptions have a $2,499 annual fee and include Nitrogen Monitoring, Crop Health Monitoring and Automatic Activity Recording. Variable Rate Prescriptions are available as an add-on for Advantage subscribers at $8.50 per acre, and include prescriptions for both nitrogen and seeding.
The company is also offering FarmLogs Flow, which is a device that plugs into a combine’s ISOBUS port to collect yield data and flow it seamlessly into the FarmLogs platform as fields are harvested. Using the data transfer tool along with FarmLogs Standard and FarmLogs Advantage allows growers to better understand and analyze management zone performance and to measure prescription effectiveness more easily.
