This year’s Bexar/Guadalupe/Comal County Beef Cattle Field Day will take place on May 9 in Converse, near San Antonio.

The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m-3:15 p.m. at the Connell Life Skills and Livestock Center at the Boysville facility, located at 8555 E. Loop 1604.

The field day is presented by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.

Topics will include: brush management; beef cattle operations for small-acreage landowners; cattle nutrient requirements and feeding strategies during drought; trailer license requirements; and pesticide laws and regulations. There also will be a roundtable discussion after the day’s presentations are completed.

"This field day will give those in the beef cattle industry a good look at many important issues and challenges they face as producers," said Jerry Warren, AgriLife Extension agent for agriculture in Bexar County. "Attendees get a lot of information and learn many strategies they can apply to their own operations."

Three continuing education units – 1.5 in the general category and 1.5 in laws and regulations – will be offered, Warren said.

Registration is $15 if completed on or before May 6 and $20 at the door. The cost includes educational materials and lunch.
