Wallaces Farmer selected the first Iowa’s Most Beautiful Barn in 2022 and is now looking for the 2023 winner. Entries came in from all across the state, with the winner being the Nosbisch family near New Hampton.

I celebrate our family’s barn every day I walk in it, and it was built more than 150 years ago. The barn is the center point of every farm, where animals are cared for and feed is stored. Maybe your barn will be the next winner, and you could win prizes and be featured in the December 2023 issue of Wallaces Farmer.

Email a picture of your barn to us and in 150 words or less, share with us the history of your barn and include how it is used on your farm. Please include your name, address and phone number. Entries will close at 8 a.m. Sept. 15.

Winners will be selected through a combination of online voting and editorial voting based on the beauty of the barn and the story behind it.

Owners of the barn will receive a complete photo shoot of their barn, which can include family members, plus a 16-by-20-inch piece of metal wall art of the photo of their choice. Owners of the first-place barn also will receive $100, second place will win $75 and third will receive $50.

Send a photo and write-up about your barn by Sept. 15, including your name, address and phone number, to [email protected]. Winners will be notified in the first part of October.
