What supporters say
Community leaders. “More than just maintaining a secure, efficient and environmentally friendly swine operation, [Mark and Christine] are the voice of agriculture in Wabash County. Mark is president of the Wabash County Farm Bureau Inc., of which I am a board member. I can attest to his dedication for spreading agriculture’s story to both adults and youth in our county and throughout the state of Indiana. He has dedicated many hours through his involvement with Agriculture in the Classroom and Ag Expo events here in Wabash County.” — Curt Campbell, Wabash County Extension ag educator and nominator

• Positive examples.Mark and Chris have a strong ‘do what’s right’ attitude that sheds a good light on production agriculture in Indiana. They are a well-respected farm family whose leadership is well-known in our county. I am proud to know Mark and Chris and equally proud to support them for the Indiana Prairie Farmer’s Master Farmer award.” — Randy Curless, Liberty Swine Farms, Wabash

• Good neighbors. “Mark and Chris York are outstanding candidates for the Master Farmer recognition. As you see in their nomination form, they are growing their swine business in Wabash County, adding jobs to the local economy and contributing to local schools, the county and state.

“Mark and Chris received the first Wabash County Farm Family of the Year award back in 2010. … As part of the evening, we played a video about the farm. It was memorable for me as I listened to a neighbor support their nomination by saying that she enjoys living across the road. How often do we hear that about a livestock operation?

“They represent agriculture so well, running a secure, efficient and environmentally friendly swine operation near the Eel River and Beargrass Creek. It is my pleasure to support their nomination.” — Howard Halderman, president, Halderman Farm Management Services, Wabash
