The popular Featured Farmers program at the Indiana State Fair, sponsored by Corteva Agriscience, continues in 2021, but in modified form. Past farmers and farm families who have been featured during a day at the fair over the past five years were invited back for a special Featured Farmers reunion, with activities planned for the last five days of the fair. These activities will run from Aug. 18 through the closing day of the fair, Aug. 22.
“We’re going to feature farm families which have participated in the program during these five days,” says Heidi Spahn with Corteva. “We have several activities planned for those who can join us, and fairgoers will be able to see the farmers during some of these times.”
Tentative activities for each of the five days include a panel and farmer chat, location to be announced; a visit to the Habitat for Humanity Home Build project; meeting and greeting state FFA officers; and participating in the daily parade. A parade will be held each day of the state fair.
Twenty-five of the farm families who have been featured in the past tentatively agreed to participate this year by press time. Not all of those will be present on any one day of the fair.
“We are planning a full return of the Featured Farmers program with new farm families being featured and recognized for the 2022 Indiana State Fair,” Spahn concludes.
