Montana State University administrators, deans, faculty members and student leaders will visit the north and central portions of the state June 20-22 as part of MSU’s 10th summer bus tour.

This year’s tour, with the theme of “Follow the Food Systems,” will stop in Lewistown, Lodge Pole, Havre, Chester, Sweet Grass Hills, Shelby and Great Falls.

During the three-day, 690-mile trip, MSU leaders will meet with representatives from MSU Extension, the MSU Northern Ag Research Center and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, as well as farmers, ranchers, business owners and groups, including 4-H.

"Each MSU bus tour is centered on a particular region of the state to create enduring ties between the people and economies of Montana and its land-grant university. In its 10th year, we will connect with the last of all 56 counties in our great state,” said MSU President Waded Cruzado. “We look forward to learning more about how Montana feeds its state and people across the world.”

The MSU Office of the President, College of Agriculture, MSU Extension and MSU Alumni Foundation will host a pair of social events during the tour. The first will be in Havre at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Northern Ag Research Center, or NARC. The second will be at Liberty County Senior Citizens Center in Chester at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21. The public is welcome at both events. Registration is required for the social gatherings at msuaf.org/Havre for the dinner or msuaf.org/Chester for the lunch by today, June 14.

Established by Cruzado in 2012, the summer bus tour helps university leaders better understand the communities that are served by the university’s land-grant mission by bringing them face-to-face with people all over the state.

Previous years' tour themes were "Follow the Grain," "Follow the Beef," "Follow the Energy," "Follow the Tourism," "Follow the Health and Wellness," "Follow the Arts and History," "Follow the People and Places of Northeast Montana," “Follow the Mountain and Valley Economies” and “Follow the Water.”
