Vic Fosheim and Kent Plessner are the Dakota Farmer's 2013 Master Farmers.
Fosheim, Midland, S.D., is a grain grower who, with his partners and family members, has built a progressive farming operation. He no-tills and raises a wide of crops including corn, sunflowers, milo, wheat, flax and millet. A director on the Midwest Cooperative elevator board in Pierre, S.D., Foesheim has generously donated grain to the CHS Harvest For Hunger campaign.

Kent Plessner
Kent Plessner, Verona, N.D., is a former dairy and beef producer who wo now produces row crops. Plessner fits the classic definition of a farmer to a "T," wrote the person who nominated him for the award. "He is a not a showy person. He farms well, cares for his equipment, buildings, and maintains shelter belts, respects the wildlife that is near, and assists his wife with landscaping projects. He lends a hand where ever needed, he is loved and respected."

The Master Farmer program is one of the oldest farmer recognition programs in the United States. Conducted in a dozen states by Penton Media/Farm Progress Companies magazines, the Master Farmer program recognizes individuals who are actively farming and have excelled in running their businesses and supporting their families, communities, state and/or industry. Men or women, farmers or ranchers, individuals or families are eligible for the award.
