Mike Pearson is attending the National Association Farm Broadcasters convention in Kansas City.

One of the topics to be discussed is the possibility that AM radio could disappear from the airwaves.

It is no secret that there are more electric vehicles on the roads. The sound is silent ot human ears. However, the electric magnetic field powered by massive batteries and motors disrupt the AM radio signal.

This leaves many cars manufacturers to announce they will stop putting AM radios in vehicles. AUDI, Porche, Volkswagon, Ford, BMW and Tesla have already announced their plans.

There are 4,470 AM radio stations with local news and sports coverage, 1500 carry agriculture news.

Broadcasters are urging consumers to raise the issue with their dealerships when going on test drives in vehicles and don't be afraid to say something on social media.

Congress may say no to the idea of getting rid of AM radios. A bipartisan effort is underway with the AM Radio for every vehicle ACT.

This would require the NTSB to write a rule requiring AM RADIO in every vehicle sol and if a vehicle does not have an AM radio then it has to be disclosed as well.

Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Mike Pearson, farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
