Lori Dabbs says it seems like every time someone with the University of Arkansas wants to try out a new idea, they think of her and her family’s farm on the Grand Prairie near Stuttgart, Arkansas.

Over the years, she, her husband and her son have participated in a number of such programs with one of the latest being the Arkansas Discovery Farms Project. “Sometimes it seems like we have a target on us,” she said, laughing. “They seem to think we’ll try anything.”

The Dabbs are willing to participate, she said, because they believe the research could help them and other farmers better conserve their natural resources and remain profitable. Her comments came during her presentation at the Arkansas Soil & Water Education Conference and Irrigation Expo at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.
