Feed The World Opens Export Hub In Central Ohio

As the world demands more U.S. protein the needs of the global livestock trade business is finding ways to maeet the demand.

Export and transportation of livestock is growing part of the global marketplace. Feed the World, LLC opened its doors Oct. 1 as an export Inspection facility and has since received government approval for export processing.  FTW provides necessary holding, rest, quarantine and inspection for cattle, small ruminants, swine and other animals during their eastbound or westbound journey in a modern, well-ventilated facility.

Feed The World livestock export facilities is a well-equipped holding and inspection site for livestock leaving the country. Once the livestock are inspected and all export requirements are met, they are loaded for transport to destinations all over the world, by air and by sea.  Animals can be exported through the Wilmington Air Park located in Wilmington. The location of FTW is ideal for air transport and is a day's drive from the East Coast.  In addition to 4.5 acres under roof, FTW also offers open-air hoop buildings and pasture for quarantine purposes throughout the state. From FTW facilities, up to four plane loads of livestock may be transported at once. FTW also provides the air shipping containers which are also built at the facility in Sabina.

"The Wilmington Air Park is an excellent alternative to JFK and O'Hara with less congestion and expense, the air fields are only ten miles away from FTW.  It is considerably less stress on the animals," says Larry Baker, with Livestock Export Association of the USA.  "FTW can provide USDA Inspected Isolation for foreign countries where the protocol requires isolation during testing.  I can answer questions about this at 937-541-7461 or [email protected]."

Around-the-clock staffing and veterinary services ensures a secure environment for livestock and prompt attention to their needs. The facility is disinfected and dried between livestock shipments for bio-security purposes.

With convenient loading and unloading and customizable pens, "our full-service facilities can adapt to fit different scenarios based on specialized business requests as well as individual requirements," says FTW Manager Randy Litwiller, who has more than 20 years of livestock husbandry experience. One of only six approved, permanent export inspection and processing facilities in the United States, FTW is located in central Ohio, just 10 miles off of Interstate 71 and just 35 miles south of Interstate 70.
