This fall, forest landowners in northeastern Washington can learn how to plan, protect, and get the most from their property in a weekly course led by WSU Extension Foresters.

The hybrid Northwest Washington Coached Planning Forest Stewardship Shortcourse runs Sept. 20 through Nov. 17, 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The course is being held both in-person and as an online option to help meet safety and learning environment needs. The in-person option is held in Colville, Wash. Cost is $100, and includes materials, tools, and an on-site visit.

Coached planning short courses are designed to share hands-on, practical skills and knowledge that allow landowners to set and achieve goals for their forests. The course covers a range of topics, including wildlife habitat, wildfire prevention, timber harvesting, and more. Stewardship plans meet standards and requirements for tax benefits, tree farm certification, and other state and federal programs.
