SOYBEAN CONTESTS: The Kansas Soybean Yield and Value Contests are open for entries, according to the Kansas Soybean Commission and Kansas Soybean Association. The deadline to enter is Dec 1. Jennifer M. Latzke

The Kansas Soybean Yield and Value Contests recognize outstanding Kansas soybean farmers each year, and are an incentive for Kansas farmers to increase soybean yields and protein and oil contents. The information gathered from entries is shared to help all Kansas soybean farmers raise higher-yielding and more profitable soybeans.

The Kansas Soybean Yield and Value Contests are open and free of charge to any Kansas soybean grower or individual involved in a farming operation.

Only one entry per field will be accepted. An individual may enter multiple categories within the yield contest (conventional, no-till, dryland or irrigated), but only one entry may be accepted per district. Individuals may submit one entry into the value contest.

The contest is divided into four categories: Conventional Dryland, No-till Dryland, Conventional-till Irrigated and No-till Irrigated. The dryland categories are divided into eight districts as shown on the map below. The district is to be selected based on where the field is, not where the applicant’s residence is located.

All entries are due Dec. 1 and results will be announced at the Kansas Soybean Expo.

The Kansas Soybean Commission and Kansas Soybean Association thank Kansas State University Research & Extension and AGP for their assistance in conducting the contests and No-Till on the Plains for providing special prizes.
