Corn harvest
The USDA crop progress report shows 70% of the corn planted this spring has been harvested across the nation. That’s still behind the four year average of 83%.
Wisconsin is the state struggling the most with only 37% harvested. Other states running behind include Colorado (50%); Michigan (57%); Pennsylvania (58%); North Dakota (59%); and Minnesota and Ohio with 60% complete.
Soybean harvest
The soybean harvest could be in the final days across the nation if the weather holds out for farmers. The crop progress report this week shows 90% of the harvest is complete, that’s just 1% down from the four year average of 91%.
The Midwest states report their harvests to at least be above the 85% mark and most are closer to 90%. The three states appearing to struggle are North Carolina (50%); Kentucky (63%) and Tennessee (68%).
