Bayer CropScience announces the expansion of Sivanto Prime insecticide for foliar use on stone fruit, caneberries and other crops, plus for soil use on leafy and brassica vegetables.

Sivanto Prime has received a reduced risk designation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use on stone fruit, avocado, and pomegranate.

The product is registered on many horticulture crops and most broadacre crops, including citrus, pome fruit, stone fruit, grapes, bush berries, tree nuts (excluding almonds), potatoes, vegetables, alfalfa, cotton, sorghum and several specialty crops including blueberry, clover, pomegranate and caneberries.

In addition, maximum residue limits (MRLs) for flupyradifurone, the active ingredient in Sivanto Prime insecticide, have been established effective immediately in Australia and Taiwan. These MRLs are available across key crops, including grapes, citrus, and potatoes (both countries), plus leafy and brassica vegetables (Taiwan only).

Produce treated with Sivanto Prime can now be traded within the NAFTA region and three Pacific Rim countries - Australia, Japan, and Taiwan.

Bayer is pursuing additional MRLs for Sivanto Prime in the European Union, Hong Kong, and South Korea where similar MRLs are expected within the next year.

Bayer says Sivanto Prime provides “state-of-the-art precision pest control that effectively targets harmful pests while helping safeguard beneficial insects – all with a flexible window of application that allows for use when other products often cannot be used.”

The company adds, “Sivanto Prime is highly selective to many beneficial arthropods and predatory mites when used as directed, making it a good fit for an integrated pest management program.”

Sivanto Prime provides good residual control of whiteflies, psyllids, scale, aphids and leafhoppers - applied as a foliar spray, a soil drench, plus shank or drip application, depending on the crop, to allow growers maximum flexibility with their crop protection tools.
