Farmers attending this year’s Milan No-Till Field Day heard about a “new” pest that appears to be a greater threat in cotton when conditions are hot and dry. Veteran entomologist Scott Stewart talked about a regional research project that is aimed at helping growers combat spider mites when they reach treatable thresholds. Stewart’s was one of a number of cutting edge presentations at the field day, which is now held during even years at the University of Tennessee’s Experiment Station just outside Milan.
