The Michigan Corn Growers Association announced the results of its 2018 elections for the board of directors Jan. 31 at the association’s 2018 annual meeting.
The association also handed out two awards, honoring Rep. Dan Lauwers with the Friend of Corn award and Ken Wadsworth of Sandusky with its Distinguished Service award.

Board members elected include:
• Matt Frostic of Applegate was re-elected to represent District 3, which encompasses Huron, Saginaw, Sanilac and Tuscola counties.
• Cade Klein of Marcellus was elected to represent District 6, which encompasses Allegan, Berrien, Cass, Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties.
• Phil Gordon of Saline was re-elected to represent District 8, which encompasses Lenawee, Monroe and Washtenaw counties.
• Russell Braun of Ovid was re-elected as an at-large board member, representing the entire state.
“On behalf of the Michigan Corn Growers Association, I want to congratulate all of the new and re-elected board members,” said Jason McConnachie, president of MCGA. “We look forward to having them serve as representatives for Michigan corn growers and thank them for their commitment to our state’s corn industry.”

Rep. MCGA board members serve three-year terms. Elections were held by mail, and ballots were tallied and then verified by the MCGA election committee.
Biodiesel Incentive Program reimburses users
The Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee is offering a biodiesel reimbursement program to users of the alternative fuel. The program is based on the biodiesel blend and gallons purchased: B99 to B100 is reimbursed at $1 per gallon, B20 at 20 cents per gallon and B5 5 cents. (B5 is the minimum bio-blend allowed.)
