The Compeer Financial Fund for Rural America, the corporate giving program of Compeer Financial, has awarded 49 grants for the organization’s General Use Grant Program, totaling $268,101 this year.
General use grants fund initiatives and organizations whose work enriches agriculture and rural America.
Nineteen organizations in Minnesota received support from the General Use Grant Program. They are:
• Cannon River Watershed Partnership: support for Rice Creek Cover Crop Project
• Channel One Regional Food Bank: support for mobile pantry program
• Children’s Dental Health Services: for preventative dental care services for uninsured children living in rural Freeborn, Winona and Dodge counties in Minnesota
• Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota: for farmyard building upgrades and repairs, chicken coop fabrication and installation, and other improvements
• Ecumen Meadows of Worthington: to build an accessible community flower and vegetable garden
• Freedom Farm of Minnesota: support for Freedom Academy Learning Center addition
• Frogtown Farm: support for community-based education for Frogtown, Saint Paul
• Interfaith Caregivers: support for senior transportation program
• Luverne Backpack Program: to purchase food for needy families in the program
• Maple River Loaves and Fishes Food Shelf: to purchase three chest freezers
• Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation: support for Minnesota Agriculture Innovation Challenge
• North Country RIDE: providing a provision of hay and feed for 15 horses during the 2019 season
• Open Door Health Center: support for the dental sealant program
• Project FINE: general program support for in-depth education and mentoring for individuals who would like to start their own business selling produce
• Second Harvest North Central Food Bank: to create a school pantry within each school in ISD #318 Grand Rapids
• The ALS Association in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota Chapter: support for the durable medical equipment loan pool
• University of St. Thomas: support for materials and fabrication of a low-cost brussels sprouts harvester
• Worthington Work Camp sponsored by ALC: support to host and buy materials for the Worthington Work Camp
• YMCA Camp Ihduhapi: to provide outdoor classroom, gardening tools and supplies and improved farm animal care for Farm Achievement Program
“These organizations give back to the communities in Compeer Financial’s territory every day, supporting agriculture, technology, education and the environment,” said John Monson, chairman of Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, in a news release. “We are proud to continue our commitment to agriculture and rural America in the second year of our General Use Grant Program.”
