No Pinwheeling street sign
NO WHAT? It’s hard not to do something if you don’t know what it is! It turns out this sign along a public street has a very specific message for customers of the company located nearby. Tom J. Bechman

The sign (above) along a secluded road in Marion County, Ind., has hung there a while. After all, who says “please” anymore? Maybe more people should.

If you don’t know what “pinwheeling” means, you’re not alone. The anonymous contributor who spotted this sign looked it up on the internet. Here’s a clue: The narrow road runs along a pallet factory. A stack of pallets sat just behind the bridge support sporting the sign.

Pinwheeling refers to turning pallets in different directions while stacking inside a semitrailer to get more pallets per load. The likely reason for the sign is they’re harder to unload, especially with a forklift.

In contrast, the second sign (below), submitted by Todd Schmicker, Winamac, Ind., needs no explanation. Someone either flunked their driver’s test when they smashed the sign or flunked the test and then smashed the sign. You decide!
