DOUBLE TAKE: Yes, there really are two crop-dusting planes and a helicopter in this empty grass field along U.S. 35 near Winamac, Ind. The pilots, employees of Bluebird Ag LLC, were waiting for winds to lay. Todd Schmicker

Todd Schmicker couldn’t resist taking this picture when he saw two airplanes and a helicopter parked side by side in a grass field along U.S. 35 near Winamac, Ind. It’s not something you see every day in rural Indiana, even if you’re a farmer like Todd.

As it turns out, the pilots were waiting for winds to die down before they returned to spraying the crop fields nearby. Todd recognized them. They’re employees of Bluebird Ag LLC, the crop-dusting service that applied pesticides on his own fields a few days earlier.

According to the website, Ed and Natalie Howard own the business, based out of Knox, Ind. To learn more, visit bluebirdagllc.com. In the meantime, enjoy the beauty of their aircraft, which Todd captured in the photo.
