LAND COMPANY: Farmers National Co. manages and sells land throughout the Dakotas.

David Englund is the new president and CEO of Farmers National Co. He currently oversees the employee-owned company’s farm management sector and hires, trains and supervises field operations for the company.

Englund grew up on a farm in Nebraska and holds an agricultural business degree from Kearney State College. He is an accredited farm manager and possesses numerous certifications in real estate and crop insurance. He replaces Jim Farrel, who has been with the company since 1986, and will be retiring.

Englund’s current position will be filled by Ken Schmitt, area vice president for the central area in Jefferson, Iowa. Ken grew up on a farm in Lohrville, Iowa, and graduated from Iowa State University. He is an accredited farm manager through the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Julie Gerken is the company’s new treasurer and new senior vice president of financial services. Gerken has been with Farmers National since 2014. Early in her career, she worked for Farmers National as an intern in the corporate accounting area. After graduating from University of Nebraska, she went into public accounting for 17 years before rejoining Farmers National in 2014. She replaces Dave Knutson, who recently retired.
