Uganda and Zimbabwe have been added to the list of countries/regions affected by Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI).

USDA’s Animal Plant Health and Inspection Service added the countries to the list after HPAI was confirmed there. 

APHIS placed restrictions on the importation of poultry, commercial birds, other types of birds (research, performing), ratites, any avian hatching eggs, unprocessed avian products and byproducts, and certain fresh poultry products from those countries after the outbreaks were confirmed.

Uganda was added to the list of regions under temporary restrictions on Jan. 14, 2017. It was added to the list of regions considered to be affected by HPAI on Sept. 21, 2017.

Zimbabwe was added to the list of regions under temporary restrictions on June 1, 2017. It was added to the list of regions considered to be affected by HPAI as of Sept. 21, 2017.
