1 Min Read

TWO NEW broadleaf weed herbicides from Dow AgroSciences recently received EPA registration. CleanWave and Starane NXTcp herbicides expand the company's presence in the small grains market. Dow AgroSciences is seeking state registrations for CleanWave in Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota for 2006, with more registrations planned for 2007.

The new herbicide controls more than 30 broadleaf weeds, including large kochia up to 8 in. tall, as well as acetolactate synthase (ALS)-resistant and dicamba-tolerant biotypes. CleanWave also controls wild buckwheat, lambsquarters, prickly lettuce and sunflowers. The product will be targeted in areas of continuous wheat and wheat-fallow systems due to rotational crop restrictions under the label.

Starane NXTcp will be offered as a co-pack in 2006. Starane NXTcp provides control of annual broadleaf weeds such as kochia, wild buckwheat, lambsquarters and Russian thistle. It is tankmix compatible with all leading grass herbicides. The company is seeking state registrations for the product in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
