Permits required for high VOC formulations

PCA recommendation required before using high-VOC formulation pesticides from May 1-Oct. 31.

1 Min Read

A PCA recommendation is required before using high-VOC formulation pesticides from May 1 to Oct. 31.

Growers in the San Joaquin Valley planning to use high VOC (volatile organic compound) formulations of the pesticides that contain chlorpyrifos (Lorsban), abamectin (Agri-Mek) or oxyfluorfen (Goal) must first get a written recommendation from their pest control adviser that the high VOC formulation is needed before material is purchased. The requirement is in effect from May 1 to Oct. 31 this year. See this fact sheet from DPR for more information.

In addition, chlorpyrifos is currently under DPR review, which may affect the availability of this pest control product for almonds in the future.
