The Administrative Committee for Pistachios (Committee), which administers Federal Marketing Order 983 (order) for pistachios grown in California, Arizona and New Mexico, is soliciting nominations to fill current positions which will expire June 30, 2016.

Through the order, the pistachio industry implements programs designed to improve producer returns.

Four producer members (two in District 1 and one each in Districts 2 and 3), one handler member, plus each member’s alternate are needed to serve on the Committee from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018.

The committee is composed of nine producer members, two handler members, one public member, and each member’s alternate.

Those interested in increasing their involvement in the pistachio industry are encouraged to seek nomination to the committee.

Candidates for a member or alternate member position must produce or handle pistachios, have a proprietary interest in the production or handling of pistachios, or be an employee of a person who produces or handles pistachios.

To enhance membership diversity, eligible women, minorities, and those with disabilities are encouraged to seek nomination to the Committee.

Nomination forms will be mailed to handlers and producers on Feb. 19, and must be returned by March 8. Pistachio producers and handlers will vote for candidates from March 30 – April 16.

More information about the Committee, the order, and current committee members is available online at www.acpistachios.org.
