SECRETARY SONNY: USDA secretary Sonny Perdue is hopeful the first installment of 2019 Market Facilitation Program payments will arrive in farmer’s hands by Labor Day. The agricultural listening session at Farmfest on Aug. 7 drew a standing room only crowd.
The annual event, held on the Gilfillan Estate, Morton, Minn., draws an estimated 30,000 people each year.
The ag panel included Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue; Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., chairman of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee; Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Florida; and additional Minnesota U.S. House Reps. Angie Craig, Jim Hagedorn, Peter Stauber and Dean Phillips.
